“Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic.”

Hey there! I'm Melba Acey, a certified Speech-Language Pathologist with 19 years of experience. I absolutely love helping kiddos develop their communication skills—it's my passion! When I'm working with your little ones, I bring a mix of enthusiasm, expertise, and compassion to create a positive and fun therapeutic space. I firmly believe in tailoring my approach to each child, acknowledging that every young learner is wonderfully unique.

In my sessions, you can expect a child-led, engaging, and neuro-diversity affirming approach. I make learning enjoyable with evidence-based techniques, interactive activities, and innovative strategies. Whether it's articulation challenges, language delays, or any communication disorder, I've got it covered with personalized therapy plans that boost growth and confidence. I specialize in working with children and teens who benefit from multimodal communication, and I'm well-versed in communication apps like LAMP, Touch Chat, TD Snap +Core, and more. I also speak Spanish and offer bilingual services for children up to the age of 10.

Beyond the therapy room, I'm all about collaboration! I love working closely with parents, caregivers, and other professionals involved in a child's development. Effective communication and teamwork are at the heart of what I do, ensuring a holistic and supportive approach to pediatric speech therapy.

Outside of my work, I'm a mom and pet lover who enjoys soaking up nature, reading, crafting, and hanging out with family and friends. I'm super excited to be part of your child's communication journey! If you have any questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out anytime.

As an AAC Specialist I LOVE working with different types of technology to meet communication needs.

One of my biggest passions is working with Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) to give children and adolescents with minimal communication the ability to speak up to ask for what they want, need, like, and to be able to better connect with others. I believe that collaboration with families, educators, and any other caregivers is vital to making great progress, so I LOVE doing parent and teacher trainings in conjunction with therapy. Often there is a long waiting list for getting assessed and finding the best fit for a device, and while figuring out a best fit isn’t always instantaneous, I do want to get a device into the hands of children who need them as soon as possible. As a part of evidence-based practice, I stress multimodal communication, which is honoring any and all communication efforts a child gives. If you want to know more about how to make multimodal communication both FUN and FUNCTIONAL reach out today to learn more!
